Introduction to Oil Painting (5th - 9th grades)

Week 3 (7/10 - 7/14) This camp is now sold out! THANK YOU!

We suggest you check out the rolling camps:

Plein Air Introduction (6th - 12th grades)

Fluid Frames – Clay Painting Animation (6th - 12th)

Stained Glass Making (6th - 12th)

Students will learn the fundamentals of art and design and the basics components of oil paints. Oil painting is an excellent introduction to learn how to mix colors and achieve different variations in tones and textures in a work of art. Through this summer camp, students will learn how to layer oil paints, dilute with turpenoid (odorless turpentine), different brush techniques and how to add fine lines and finishing touches to their paintings. By the end of the camp, students will have two to three portfolio pieces to add to their professional portfolios. Because of drying times, students may need to allow artwork an additional 2 weeks to let the paint dry.
