Character Design (6th - 12th grades)
Week 2 (6/28 - 7/2)
In this course we'll be learning the process of creating your own character! Every person you've ever seen in an animation, movie or video game has been created by a character designer. Just like many careers in art, a character designer requires a certain skill set to bring their ideas to life. To understand how a character designer thinks, this lesson plan will include: anatomy, (hands, feet, faces and full bodies) as well as gathering references for hair, expressions and outfit studies. We'll be using traditional graphite and micron pens but students are welcome to bring their own digital devices to draw along with.
Skill level required: Student's who enjoy drawing faces/full bodies and are comfortable with sketching/brainstorming.
